ACT MASTERS SQUASH LIFE MEMBERSHIP

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Life membership is bestowed upon an individual and is done in recognition of those who have contributed in a significant way via outstanding and meritorious service in the advancement of masters’ squash in the ACT.  The eligibility criteria should include, but not limited to, the following:

Mandatory

  • Minimum of 10 years’ service as an elected committee member.
  • It should be demonstrated that the nominee has been involved in a wide variety of tasks/issues in addition to his/her normal committee responsibilities.

Examples of Service

Involvement in progressing squash related matters with organizations such as Squash Australia, Squash ACT, other State Masters squash organisations and AMSA.

  • Representing ACT Masters at the Australian Masters Squash Championships held each year.
  • Involvement in the administration and organization of the Australian national championships which are held in Canberra every eight years.
  • Representing ACT Masters at the various interstate masters’ tournaments
  • Active participation in the organization and running of the annual ACT March championships
  • Successful outcomes for involvement in masters’ squash related activities. For example:

–                 The establishment of the Bega Challenge and involvement in the administration and organization of the annual Challenge;

–                 Development of new sponsorship opportunities for Masters squash;

–                 Resolving issues and concerns raised by members; and

–                 Representing ACT masters at Squash ACT board meetings.

(NB this list in not exhaustive but indicative of the types of issues our committee members may get involved with in addition to their normal committee responsibilities).

Process of election to Life membership:

All nominations are to be treated with the strictest of confidence.

  • Nominations shall be forwarded to the Secretary, ACT Masters Squash Incorporated, and include a statement of their achievements that warrants consideration for a recommendation to confer life membership on that person.
  • Nominations will be considered by the ACTMSA Committee and a recommendation will be put to a general meeting of members by special resolution in accordance with Rules 34 and 29 of the Articles of Incorporation either supporting or not supporting the recommendation.
  • If the recommendation is accepted at the general meeting the Life Member will be advised in writing of his or her status of membership and shall be invited to all functions of the Association.
