Lyn Dunmore wins Keith Jones Memorial Award 2013

Lyn first came on the Masters committee in 1998 through to 2001, had a break and came back on the committee in 2006. She decided to step down from the committee in 2012. Most people will know Lyn as the competition secretary – for many years putting together the competition draws for the Monday and Wednesday night competitions. She dealt with all requests, even the most annoying, from players in a cheerful manner, ensured players had opponents, collected scoresheets and anything else to make sure the competitions ran smoothly. She promoted masters encouraging anyone she came across to join the Masters comp.

Lyn is well known around the squash scene, competing over many years in the ACT and NSW tournaments and the Australians. Although very competitive on the court, she would ensure her opponent had a good match if they were of a lower standard than herself. She played with the Masters spirit. She’d put her hand up to help out on the tournament desk for the ACT tournaments and you would have seen her at Weston Creek today.

It was injury that forced Lyn to hang up the racquet but she still comes to tournaments. She enjoys the camaraderie of her fellow squash players.

Lyn is a very worthy winner of this Award.
